A Beautiful Sketched Butterflies card

Have you wondered if there are other ways to color cards besides Stampin' Blends or watercolor pencils? The answer is "Yes, there is." I love the blends. I struggle with watercolor pencils because I am not familiar with how to layer colors. Today's card features a really cool way to 'color' that uses Wink of Stella. What? Yes! Our inks are water-based and Wink of Stella works perfectly to pull color from the stamped images to give a watercolor look. Check it out:

This butterfly is stamped in Pretty Peacock and colored with Wink of Stella! The stamp is called a line art stamp and has a lot of ink around the edges. Wink of Stella 'pulls' that color in as you stroke the lines. It gives a nice layered look to the color with light and dark places dependent on how much ink is in the line. The added bonus: the lovely shimmer that Wink of Stella gives your project. It's hard to capture that in a picture but maybe you can see it.

Want to see how I made this card? Here is the Video I made over on my You Tube Channel. While you are there, please follow my channel.

Cutting Instructions:

Card Base: 4 1/4" x 11", score at 5 1/2" (top fold card)

Pretty Peacock Layer: 4" x 5 1/4"

Basic White Layer: 3 3/4" x 5"

Scraps for label and to stamp butterfly

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you learned a new way to color your cards that really adds a bit of sparkle. Plus that embossed layer adds so much detail. Your recipient will ooh and aah when they open this card. Let me know if you have questions or need help with anything.

See you soon,

Mary Lou
